Daniel M. Shafer is an associate in the Palo Alto office of The
Lanier
Law Firm, where he is a member of the firm's high-stakes intellectual
property litigation group. He joined the firm in 2010 after several years at a boutique law firm in Silicon Valley specializing in intellectual property disputes and commercial litigation. Mr. Shafer is a graduate of Santa Clara University School of Law, where he concentrated on intellectual property law. Prior to law school, he earned an M.A. in anthropology at Stanford University and a B.A. in anthropology at Oberlin College, where he was named to the Phi Beta Kappa honor society and graduated summa cum laude.
Before practicing law, Mr. Shafer worked in software product development, news and entertainment journalism, as well as advertising.
Mr. Shafer is a member of the San Francisco Bay Area Intellectual Property Inn of Court; the Santa Clara County Bar Association; and the American Bar Association sections for Intellectual Property, Entertainment Law and Business Law. He is admitted to practice in all California state courts, and in the federal courts of the Northern and Eastern Districts of California and the District of Nebraska.
