Levaquin was issued a Black Box Warning by the FDA on July 8, 2008 in order to keep patients informed of the increased risk of tendonitis and tendon rupture development. The FDA has stated that these side affects can occur during or after completion of the use of Levaquin. There have been numerous cases of this tendon rupture occurring several months after completion of taking the medication.
