$253 Million Finding is Number 6 on National Law Journal List
The National Law Journal named The Lanier Law Firm's $253 million verdict against Merck & Co. as its sixth-largest verdict in 2005.In that case, a Brazoria County jury ruled against Merck on each of three key questions: they found Merck failed to warn doctors of the VIOXX's danger, that the drug was improperly designed, and that Merck's negligence caused Robert Ernst's death
After the verdict, W. Mark Lanier, founder of The Lanier Law Firm and counsel to Mr. Ernst's widow, discussed the verdict to reporters.
"These people are good, solid people," Mr. Lanier told The Wall Street Journal. "They know right and they know wrong. It sends the message that the drug companies must tell us the good the bad and the ugly."
