New York Appeals Court Says Law Firm Wrongly Excluded from Bank of America Settlement

NEW YORK – A three-judge federal panel has overturned a lower court ruling that excluded a Dayton, Ohio-based law firm from claiming $6.2 million in attorneys’ fees as part of a $2.4 billion settlement with Bank of America Corp.

Flanagan Lieberman Hoffman & Swaim had appealed the district court ruling, contending the firm was wrongly excluded from collecting its portion of $152 million in legal fees in the settlement with Bank of America in a class-action lawsuit from investors.

DePuy/J&J Orthopaedics found liable for metal-on-metal implant failures

DALLAS – A federal jury in Dallas has awarded a significant verdict to five people who suffered a variety of debilitating physical problems after receiving metal-on-metal hip implants manufactured by DePuy/J&J Orthopaedics Inc., a subsidiary of New Brunswick, New Jersey-based Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ).

The Lanier Law Firm, Executive Director Kevin Roberts, Helps Fundraise for the American Heart Association

Dozens of Northwest area volunteers gathered together on Feb. 18 for the 2016 Northwest Harris County Go Red for Women Luncheon Circle of Red and Men Go Red kickoff party at Champions Forest Golf Club.

The group, led by chair and Cy-Fair Independent School District Board of Trustees member, Darcy Mingoia, helped raise $11,030 towards the American Heart Association’s (AHA) Northwest Harris County Go Red for Women Luncheon’s $175,000 goal.

Houston Attorney Mark Lanier Receives 2016 Texas Tech Distinguished Alumni Award

HOUSTON – Acclaimed trial lawyer Mark Lanier of The Lanier Law Firm was honored on Feb. 26 as one of three recipients of the 2016 Distinguished Alumni Awards presented by Texas Tech University. The annual reception and dinner drew hundreds of alumni, faculty and university administrators.

Also honored were Laura Nieto, Senior Manager of Community Affairs for Southwest Airlines, and playwright Jaston Williams, best known as the co-author of the Greater Tuna series of comedic plays.
