Houston’s Lanier Law Firm Ranked Among Best in US for Pharma, Medical Device Cases

Firm founder Mark Lanier also named national leader following record verdicts

HOUSTON – Accomplished trial lawyer Mark Lanier and attorneys from The Lanier Law Firm are being recognized among the nation’s best for their work on behalf of victims of dangerous pharmaceutical drugs and defective medical devices by The Legal 500, a nationwide ranking of the top lawyers and law firms.

The Lanier Law firm is one of only five U.S. firms to earn a Top-Tier ranking for 2016 in the product liability, mass tort and class action category based on work for plaintiffs in cases involving prescription drugs and medical devices. Mr. Lanier is among only seven attorneys in the nation to be recognized as a Leading Lawyer in the same category.

Several other firm attorneys earned high marks based on research by The Legal 500. Richard Meadow, the firm’s National Mass Tort Leader, is highlighted for his work in achieving a $57 million settlement for women suffering side effects from the Yaz birth control pill. Clients also recommended firm attorneys Dr. Robert Leone, the firm’s in-house trial psychologist, and Alex Brown, both of Houston, and Lee Cirsch in Los Angeles.

The lofty rankings for the firm and its attorneys are based on years of successful work in courtrooms across the country.

Last year, the firm won a $500 million federal verdict in Dallas for five victims of metal-on-metal Pinnacle hip implants manufactured by DePuy/J&J Orthopaedics, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson. In 2014, the firm won a $9 billion verdict in Louisiana federal court for a client whose bladder cancer was caused by the prescription diabetes medication Actos. The firm’s prior work in a case against a manufacturer of medical syringes was the inspiration for the major motion picture “Puncture,” starring Chris Evans.

With offices in Houston, Los Angeles, and New York, The Lanier Law Firm is committed to addressing client concerns with effective and innovative solutions in courtrooms across the country. The firm is composed of outstanding trial attorneys with decades of experience handling cases involving pharmaceutical liability, asbestos exposure, commercial litigation, product liability, maritime law, and serious personal injuries.
