Mark Lanier Quoted on Supreme Court’s Rejection of J&J’s Appeal of $2B Verdict

Attorney Mark Lanier was recently quoted in numerous media outlets discussing the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to deny Johnson & Johnson’s bid to overturn a $2.1 billion damages award to a group of women who developed ovarian cancer after exposure to its talcum powder products. The full story can be seen here.

“Today justice is served,” said Mark Lanier, the women’s lawyer. “Twenty families now get compensated for a horrible, unnecessary disease. And J&J, the trigger for that disease, is held accountable.”

Mark Lanier, a lawyer for the plaintiffs, said the Supreme Court’s action “sends a clear message to the rich and powerful: You will be held to account when you cause grievous harm under our system of equal justice under law.”

“This was a victory not just for the amazing women and their families who we were privileged to represent, but a victory for justice,” Mark Lanier, the women’s lawyer, told The Post. “This result is exactly what separates America from the rest of the world.”

“This decision sends a clear message to the rich and powerful: You will be held to account when you cause grievous harm under our system of equal justice under law,” Mark Lanier said.
