Mark Lanier Quoted on Supreme Court’s Rejection of J&J’s Appeal of $2B Verdict

Attorney Mark Lanier was recently quoted in numerous media outlets discussing the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to deny Johnson & Johnson’s bid to overturn a $2.1 billion damages award to a group of women who developed ovarian cancer after exposure to its talcum powder products.

“Today justice is served,” said Mark Lanier, the women’s lawyer. “Twenty families now get compensated for a horrible, unnecessary disease. And J&J, the trigger for that disease, is held accountable.”

Mark Lanier, a lawyer for the plaintiffs, said the Supreme Court’s action “sends a clear message to the rich and powerful: You will be held to account when you cause grievous harm under our system of equal justice under law.”
