Attorney Spotlight – Jud Waltman

Attorney Spotlight - Jud Waltman

What is your specific title?

Managing Attorney, Personal Injury, Product Liability, and Maritime

What led you to a legal career?

I became interested in becoming a lawyer after I saw my older brother attend law school.  In addition, I have always had a fairly strong sense of justice and I wanted to be able to do something to help people who were in need get the justice they deserved.

What has been your most interesting or memorable case and why?

My most memorable case was one for a family who were injured in a collision with a large commercial truck.  A grandmother, a mother and a son all received injuries in the wreck, but the mother got the worst of it, ending up with a permanent brain injury.  After protracted litigation, we were able to obtain a settlement that would provide for the needs of the entire family for the rest of their lives.  That small family unit was facing a bleak future losing their main source of income and our work for them put them in a position to be able to fund their medical care and take care of all of the family’s financial needs.

What litigations or projects are you currently working on?

All of my litigation is in the personal injury or wrongful death area.  Currently, I have a few interesting cases.  One involves the death of a man who died when his Tesla caught fire in a low speed collision and the other involves the tragic death of a college student in a hazing incident.

What are 1 or 2 things about you most people don’t know?

Most people may not know that I am a bit of a foodie with particular emphasis on barbeque.  I’ve eaten barbeque all over the state and stay up to date on all of the good places.  If anyone needs a recommendation, let me know!
