Personal Background

Mariana Aroditis is a highly experienced litigator in The Lanier Law Firm’s Los Angeles office with a focus on mass torts, consumer class actions, catastrophic personal injury cases and other complex litigation. Prior to joining the firm Mariana served as co-lead and liaison counsel in the landmark trial in which a Los Angeles jury returned a major verdict against Meta and YouTube, finding both companies liable for negligence and failure to warn consumers of the addictive properties of social media use on young people. Making the transition to the firm she continues to play a prominent role in the expanding docket of social media addiction cases, as well as wrongful death and addiction claims against OpenAI.

Mariana consistently approaches cases from the perspective of the plaintiff, with a passion for understanding their needs and getting to know clients personally in preparing them for depositions and trials. This connection helps establish an understanding of the legal process and sets expectations for plaintiffs in the often lengthy and demanding course of litigation, as well as creating trust in her counsel. During her years of practice Mariana has developed a reputation for professionalism and responsiveness before the courts and with opposing counsel.

She has authored a number of articles for publications on a range of litigation topics, and actively participates as a panelist and speaker at legal conferences. When she is not advocating for her clients, Mariana enjoys playing tennis and spending time with her children.

Representative Cases

Served as co-lead and liaison counsel in the landmark social media addiction lawsuit trial, JCCP 5255, the first case in the nation to reach a jury on claims that social media platforms were defectively designed to addict children. In March 2026, a Los Angeles County Superior Court jury found Meta Platforms Inc. and Google’s YouTube liable and returned a $6 million verdict for the plaintiff, apportioning 70% to Meta and 30% to YouTube. She continues to support the firm’s social media addiction cases as they head toward trial.

During her more than 15 years in private practice Mariana has developed a solid record in representing plaintiffs in a wide range of matters, including successfully trying several personal injury cases to significant verdicts in courts across California.

She served as liaison counsel in the SoCalGas Leak Cases (Porter Ranch) JCCP and class counsel for beneficiaries of the AFM and SAG-AFTRA Intellectual Property Rights Distribution Fund.

She was co-lead counsel in managing the settlements to resolve thousands of lawsuits against JUUL Labs concerning youth vaping, deceptive marketing, and hidden nicotine strengths.
