Personal Background

Andrea Johnstone is a Senior Attorney at The Lanier Law Firm, New York office. Andrea’s practice areas include product liability and pharmaceutical liability, with a focus on mass torts and multidistrict litigations.

Having begun her career on the defense side, Andrea brings a defense-informed perspective to her plaintiff’s work, anticipating opposing strategy and choosing her words carefully when drafting discovery documents and case narratives. She believes thoughtful preparation is an essential part of an attorney’s responsibility. At the outset of every new litigation, she invests significant time in understanding the legal, factual, and human issues involved. Her preparation has included studying trauma-informed child victim interviewing techniques and speaking with experts, before client communications begin. She is also known in the New York office as a leading champion of technology and AI to streamline and modernize the firm’s mass tort practice to better serve clients.

Prior to joining the Lanier Law Firm, Andrea advocated for victims of dangerous and defective devices and pharmaceutical products; including, 3M Combat Earplugs, Exactech, Uloric, Zantac, Zostavax, Paragard-IUD, Valsartan, Bair Hugger, Taxotere, Talcum Powder, and Tylenol.

Andrea received her Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School, where she was awarded the Leslie Scholarship and Dean’s Merit Scholarship. At Brooklyn Law, she was a Senior Clinician with the Brooklyn Law Incubator and Policy Clinic, competed in the CUBE innovator’s competition, and received the CALI Award for Discovery.

Andrea attended the University of South Florida, graduating early with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, a concentration in Italian Foreign Language, and a certificate in National Security Studies in partnership with MacDill Air Force Base. Throughout her collegiate years, Andrea was active with Pi Sigma Alpha, Meals on Wheels, and Tri Delta.
