Personal Background

Andy West is a Houston mesothelioma attorney within the Asbestos Resolution Team. Prior to coming aboard with the firm, Andy had been working with the firm on issues related to asbestos bankruptcy claims for several years as a solo practitioner. This journey has given Andy a unique perspective of viewing a client’s needs from the outside and the inside. Andy feels a personal connection to the clients he works with – many of whom, like most in asbestos and mesothelioma litigation, come from blue-collar backgrounds. Having grown up in a working-class family, Andy takes pride in advocating for people from that same working-class background.

Andy was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2011 and has been qualified as a mediator in Texas (including cases affecting the parent-child relationship) since 2010. His well-rounded background has made him immediately irreplaceable to the team as well as to our clients who depend upon his significant expertise.

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Political Science (Summa Cum Laude) from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas in 2008. While at Lamar, he was the recipient of the Jack Brooks Scholarship for Government and Politics, the Otho Plummer Award, and the Dawson Award, and served as an officer in the Lamar Pre-Law Society.

Andy went on to earn his Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas in 2011. As a law student at South Texas, he served a staff member of Currents: International Trade Law Journal, acted as mediator in the school’s Mediation Clinic, and was awarded the Pro Bono Honors Certificate, proving he not only has a heart for his profession but also for his community.

He is a native of Beaumont, Texas and has resided in Houston for more than a decade. He is an avid supporter of Liverpool Football Club and the Houston Rockets and enjoys growing his vinyl record collection with his wife.

Representative Cases

Andy primarily handles exposure affidavits for clients and conducts audits of bankruptcy claims, bringing a meticulous, detail-oriented approach to ensure every claim is properly supported. When issues arise, Andy prides himself on working through them carefully to find a resolution that satisfies the trust’s requirements and keeps the claim moving forward.

Andy also works on the firm’s Madison County docket, where he applies that same attention to detail to help manage claims and keep cases moving efficiently through the court.
