Do Service Members Have To Sue The Military or Government For their Exposure?

Over the course of years, we have represented many men and women who served in the military. Frequently we are asked, am I gonna have to sue the military? Am I gonna have to sue the government? How does that work? And the answer to that, generally speaking, is no, we do not file lawsuits against the military or the government. The claims, the lawsuits, and the bankruptcy claims are made against the manufacturers of products that were within the navy ships, for example. Within the navy ships, there will be pumps and valves and boilers and thermal insulation, all the types of things that were necessary in naval ships, and the claims are made against the manufacturers and distributors of those asbestos-containing products on the navy ships.
