“Every trust is different. Every trust fund has a different amount of money in it. Every trust covers different products, different years of exposure, and every company had different amounts of insurance and assets when they filed for bankruptcy. And so the amount of money that is in a trust fund really is handled at the bankruptcy court level.
At The Lanier Law Firm, we have been involved with some trusts at the bankruptcy court level. At that level is when you try to gather as much assets as you can to fund a future trust. That future trust, then, a lot of factors go into how much money they pay clients. First being, how many people out there do you think that you’re going to have to pay? How many people did you poison? If it’s a lot, then sometimes, if it’s a small amount of money and a lot of people, that’s a recipe for a small trust payout. If it’s not a lot of people and a lot of money, that’s a recipe for a very big trust payout. And we have everything in between.”
