Personal Background

Benjamin Pyle is a senior attorney in the firm’s Mesothelioma and Asbestos practice, within its products liability and toxic torts group. He leads the firm’s asbestos docket in Madison County, Illinois, guiding a group of active cases through the court’s regular trial settings, and he helps manage the firm’s roster of long-term mesothelioma clients, coordinating their claims across the many bankruptcy trusts established for asbestos victims.

Colleagues know Ben for his organization and his ability to manage an exceptionally large docket. Recognizing that the firm’s asbestos cases often involve thirty or more defendants, he built a firm-wide settlement database that standardizes how the team tracks demands, defendant history, and settlement ranges, so the team can negotiate from consistent, data-driven information rather than starting fresh on each case.

Ben’s work extends well beyond the case file. He builds lasting relationships with clients and their families, earns their trust, and walks them through difficult moments, from a first deposition in a room full of defense attorneys to the practical and personal questions that accompany end-of-life decisions.

Ben earned his law degree from South Texas College of Law, where he also served as managing editor of the International Trade Law Journal and a member of the South Texas Law Review. Mr. Pyle further served as a judicial intern in Houston for the Hon. Elizabeth Ray in the 165th Civil District Court and for the Hon. Jeff Bohm in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.

Mr. Pyle’s undergraduate work was completed at Emory University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and English prior to moving back to his hometown of Houston.

He was admitted to practice in 2007, joined The Lanier Law Firm in 2009, and is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the American Bar Association, and the Houston Young Lawyers Association.

Outside the office, Mr. Pyle is an avid woodworker who spends his free time building and restoring furniture, and he lives in his hometown of Houston with his family.
