“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our esteemed colleague and good friend Alfred Mackenzie. Alfred was an expert appellate practitioner and the consummate lawyer’s
lawyer. He understood the nuances of Texas law and procedure and was always eager to share that understanding with law students and young lawyers. When the stakes were highest, Alfred was always level-headed, analytical, humble, and kind. He was a lawyer other lawyers consulted when they needed advice or ideas. But Alfred was more than a fine lawyer. He was a dedicated husband and father and a man who always gave back to his community. Whether as a Baptist deacon, a scout leader, or just an informal mentor, Alfred was always looking for ways he could build into others. We are thankful for what he built into us and will miss him very much.”
