Angela Spoede

Angela Spoede is a senior attorney in the Houston office. Angela is a member of the Issues and Appeals team, where her practice focuses on legal research and written advocacy in complex litigation, mass tort, and personal injury matters. Drawing on seventeen years inside the Texas appellate courts, she brings a distinctive understanding of how judges analyze and decide issues, and she uses that insight to shape the arguments the firm raises and how they are framed.

Angela joined the Lanier Law Firm in December 2024. She began her legal career in 2007 as a law clerk at the First Court of Appeals in Houston and continued to serve there, eventually as a senior staff attorney.

At the firm, Angela supports the trial teams with an eye toward the appellate record, preparing mediation briefs where legal issues become sticking points, helping shape jury charges, and arguing questions of law and the admissibility of evidence, in addition to her briefing and appellate work.

Angela speaks with genuine enthusiasm about the practice of law and about the move she made into advocacy. She finds the personal element the most motivating part of the work: sitting across from a client whose health or livelihood is on the line, knowing the argument she builds has to hold together for that person. What clients need most in a difficult moment, she believes, is a professional who can offer structure, a plan, and a clear sense of the next step.

A former English teacher, she credits the classroom for sharpening her ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and to guide people through difficult and emotional conversations, skills she now brings to her work with clients and colleagues. Outside the office, Angela plays the oboe in her church orchestra.
