The parents of 24 children killed in the deadly flood have filed wrongful death lawsuits in Texas against Camp Mystic and its owners. The suits allege negligence, failure to warn, and other claims, asserting that the camp failed to protect campers from a foreseeable emergency.

June 2026: Camp Mystic Files for Chapter 11; The Lanier Law Firm Moves Forward
In June, Camp Mystic filed for bankruptcy protection, pausing the litigation against it. Court records show that the camp only had $6 million in liability insurance coverage—a sum that, if divided evenly, would provide only $250,000 to each family pursuing a Camp Mystic lawsuit.
“For a multimillion-dollar operation such as Camp Mystic to have only $6 million in liability insurance, I think, is gross mismanagement and further evidence of their incompetency and why they should not be in the summer camp business,”
