Truck Accident Case Story: Recovery for a Family Hit by a Commercial Carrier

One of our most memorable cases involved a commercial carrier. It wasn’t an 18-wheeler, but it was a large commercial vehicle box truck that ran a red light and hit a lady, her son, and her mother. They were all in the car together, all of whom were injured. The mother was critically injured and was going to need medical care and assistance for the rest of her life. We were able to prosecute that case. We did all the discovery we needed to do, we found out all the information we needed to find out, built a negligence case, and took the case right up to trial, but before the case was trial, we were able to obtain a settlement for everyone involved that will provide for all of their needs for the rest of their lives as far as medical, as far as housing, as far as caretakers. The family will be taken care of. And while that is, in some ways, cold comfort, our preference would be for the accident not to happen, and our clients would all give the money back if they could be well, but under the circumstances, it was as good as we could do and it provided as much relief as possible for the family, and that’s always our goal, and that’s always what we feel good about at the end of the day.
