How Long Does It Take To Resolve a Truck Accident Case in Texas?
Trucking accident cases usually take anywhere from a year to 18 months. It depends on what court you’re in and what settings you get, how much work you have to do, and that seems like a long time to most people, but we try to prepare people for a longer period of time than that. They’re very complicated and a lot of work needs to be done, and we want to push them as fast as we can, as fast as reasonable for our clients. On the other hand, we don’t want to skip thorough work and sometimes thorough work takes a while. So you usually get a first setting within around a year. Harris County’s a big county. Most cases don’t go on the first setting. You’re gonna be on a docket with 50 other cases, and the judge can only try one case a week, so usually plan on at least the second setting. So we used to tell our clients to prepare for 18 months or longer, and we’ll do it as fast as we can, but that’s what you need to set your mind for. And a big part of having a good relationship with your client is having good expectations, so we try to tell people what to expect from the outset.
