“This was a couple that lived up in the woods in Northern California. They were victims of a wildfire a few years before the woman got diagnosed with mesothelioma.
And after the fire, they got very minimal help from the government. They got very minimal help from others. And they just felt like they weren’t going to get help from anyone about this mesothelioma.
And then they contacted me and we worked with them, and just told them they have a very good case and we’re happy to work on it. And sometimes roadblocks for people are just they don’t have resources, they don’t have knowledge, maybe they don’t know any lawyers, maybe they just have negative feelings about lawsuits. But no matter what, if you’ve been wronged and there’s a legal solution to it, you should always pursue that option.
I spent a lot of time with them in person. You know, I talked to them on the phone initially and I remember I kept trying to push for in-person meetings. They were very hesitant to do so. Very private people. Just kept pushing and then met with them in person. You know, spent time with them, spent a lot of time talking about their family, their interests, just not even about their case. And over time, they trusted me and then especially working on their depositions, they gained a lot of trust with me in that process as well.”
