James Campbell, Senior Attorney at The Lanier Law Firm, recently moderated two artificial intelligence-focused legal panels in Illinois, leading conversations on how AI is reshaping the work of lawyers, courts, and government officials.
AI Panel for Illinois Township Attorneys Association (ITAA)
Campbell recently moderated a panel at the 2026 Illinois Township Attorneys Association (ITAA) Annual Educational Seminar titled “AI Challenges & Opportunities for Lawyers & Government.” The panel brought together a distinguished group of legal and judicial voices to discuss the evolving role of artificial intelligence in law and government.
The discussion featured Judge Michael Chmiel of the 22nd Judicial Circuit Court, George Bellas of Bellas & Wachowski, and Kevin Sterk of Ancel Glink. The event drew an engaged audience of private and public-sector attorneys, township officials, and government employees for a wide-ranging conversation on AI tools, risk management, and governance frameworks.
“AI isn’t coming; it’s already here, and the lawyers and government officials who engage with it thoughtfully will be better equipped to serve their clients and communities. It was a privilege to share the stage with such knowledgeable panelists and to have that conversation with the people on the front lines of public service.”

Jury Consulting Discussion at Chicago Bar Association AI Symposium
Campbell also recently moderated a panel for the Chicago Bar Association’s AI Symposium, “AI 2035: The Legal Profession and the Judiciary in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.” His panel, titled “Jury Consulting: From Mock Trial Avatars to Jury Profiles, Investigations, and Selection in the Age of AI,” explored the emerging role of artificial intelligence in trial preparation, jury research, investigations, and jury selection.
The symposium was attended by hundreds of attorneys and judges from the greater Chicago area.
