Roblox Lawsuit Lawyer: Justice for Children Harmed by the Platform

Open, accepting new clients

Why Roblox Needs To Be Held Accountable

Roblox prioritizes its own bottom line over the safety of its young playerbase, refusing to implement features that would protect children on its platform from abusers. Our attorneys are dedicated to seeking justice for those harmed by Roblox’s failure to prevent abuse via its platform.

Roblox has consistently claimed that it is safe for children and has exploded in popularity over the years, reaching nearly 83 million average daily active users in 2024. Roughly 56% of Roblox users are under 16, with 20% aged nine to 12 and another 20% even younger.

Yet, Roblox did not require users to verify their age when signing up, allowing players to easily pretend to be younger or older, increasing the risk of predators posing as fellow children.

In fact, the now-defunct financial investigation firm Hindenburg Research called Roblox an “X-rated pedophile hellscape” in an October 2024 report.

The firm claimed it was easily able to access adult content using an account listed as under 13, and found nearly 40 chat groups with no age restrictions openly trading child pornography. It found several games featuring intensely violent or sexual content, many of which were also accessible without age restrictions.

Understanding the Allegations in a Roblox Lawsuit

Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murril made headlines this month by suing Roblox in state court, accusing the company of failing to protect kids on its platform. Louisiana’s Roblox lawsuit and others allege the following:

  • Roblox has knowingly enabled sexual exploitation and abuse of children, allowing users to easily access simulated sexual activity and other explicit content.
  • It has failed to effectively implement safety measures and adequate moderation to keep child users safe from predatory threats.
  • It has failed to warn users and their parents about dangerous activity on its platform.
  • Roblox has misrepresented its existing safety and moderation controls.
  • The platform is deceptively marketed as safe for children.

How Is Roblox Responding to These Allegations?

In response to Louisiana’s lawsuit, Roblox issued a statement essentially denying the allegations and claiming that the company would never intentionally put its users at risk of harm.

The company said it has introduced more than 40 safety features in the past year, including the following:

While these changes are a step in the right direction, they are certainly too late and do not go far enough. Roblox still does not use existing technology and features to actively verify users’ ages, a safety measure that should have been implemented long ago. Our team will continue to push Roblox to improve its safety measures and hold the company accountable for its failures.

What Happens When You File a Lawsuit Against Roblox?

If you’re considering legal action against Roblox, choose a trusted lawyer who will put your child’s safety first. If your attorney determines that you may have a valid case, they’ll begin the process of filing a Roblox lawsuit:

  • Investigation and evidence gathering: Your lawyer will investigate available evidence to build a strong argument against Roblox.
  • Filing a claim: Once the evidence is gathered, reviewed, and verified, they will file a lawsuit against Roblox detailing your legal claim.
  • Discovery: If your lawsuit moves forward, your lawyer will request, exchange, and obtain further information from Roblox through the discovery process, helping to strengthen and add additional context to your case.
  • Negotiating a settlement or going to trial: Your attorney may be able to negotiate a settlement or take the case to trial.
  • Putting your family first: Your lawyer can help navigate the legal system and ensure you get the justice your family deserves while preserving your child’s privacy.

Who Is Eligible To Sue Roblox?

Parents or legal guardians can bring a sexual abuse lawsuit against Roblox on behalf of minor children who were victims or attempted victims of rape, statutory rape, sexual assault, sex trafficking, exposure to sexually explicit images, or grooming by an adult abuser via the Roblox platform.

The victim must have been 17 years old or younger at the time of the abusive conduct. If the abuser later moved contact with the victim onto another platform to perpetuate the abuse, such as Discord or Snapchat, you may still have a claim against Roblox.
